Pretty exciting day. We signed a contract to sell the house on Monday. The wife is sooo excited, as I would be, if I got excited. Now, this presents a problem, in that we now have to start getting ready to move out, get a place to pull the motorhome to and get a place to store certain items. Then comes doing all of the physical work to get it going. It will be tough but we are both looking forward to going full time in the RV. We will be saving lots of money with her not having to drive so far to work every day. With these gas prices, its a wonder we are even still considering doing the fulltime thing. But I think all in all it will be a wonderful thing being able to see this great country we live in.
We took a little trip to visit my folks house in southern Illinois at Mt. Vernon. On the way, we went through Vandalia, which is where the original State Capitol was before it was moved to Springfield. I thought it would be neat to just take a couple of pictures of the state house. So I thought I would share this picture of The Old State House and the statue of Lincoln sitting on a bench across the street from it. This is just a very small tidbit of the items I will place on here when we get out on the road. I will try to keep it worth looking at and worth reading. I will welcome any and all comments, criticisms, suggestions or just send money.....LOL

TOAD
That is our 2000 Jeep that we just recently acquired as our Toad. For those of you who do not know about full time RVing, a Toad is the personal vehicle you will Tow behind your motor home, so that you may leave your RV as your home base while exploring the areas you are visiting. We figure that a Jeep covers the off road exploring while in the mountains and deep in the back country. Great to take pictures out of, while in the convertable mode.
Not much else to report except we also found a tow bar for the Toad. One problem, we have to purchase the correct brackets to fit on the Jeep. Even more money will be needed. The costs of these tow bars is high and the totals to get a good one can almost reach as much as a thousand dollars. As with a lot of our current costs of living, I think we are all being fleeced on almost everything we buy now-a-days. Seems like it has been getting worse and worse for the past 6 yrs. (I'll leave it at that cause I really dont want to get into my view of two things, Politics and Religion. Most would not like what I would have to say.)

About Us
Thought I might share a little about our family. The picture to the right was our favorite. We were married in November, 1984 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. We are approaching our silver anniversary and are hoping to be on the road when that happens.
My name is Rickey (Rick) for short. I am 52 yrs old, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (73-77) and the U. S. Army (79-83). I have worked in Law Enforcement, been a laborer, real estate, a process server, and also worked in a Casino as a games dealer and supervisor. I had asthma all of my life but have recently developed what has been diagnosed as COPD which has put me on disability and continuous oxygen.
My beautiful wife's name is Ramona (Mona) for short. She is ..... well, young. I love her to much to tell her age. She is currently a Table games supervisor at a Riverboat Casino in Illinois. She has worked as a secretary, waitress, manager of a Pizza Hut, and a great housewife.
As for children, Mona's daughter Sarah (deceased) and Rick's son Charles (25 living in Florida).
Introduction
This blog is being set up for my wife and I to allow us to share our travel experiences with loved ones and anyone else that may be interested. We are preparing to start the rest of our lives as full-time RVers. We intend to become Workampers while seeing the country as we go. Unfortunately, my wife is still working and I am on disability, so we have not yet been able to start. Our goal is to have the motorhome as well as our Jeep paid off and a nestegg of cash before we go. We also are in process of selling our house.
We will post about once a week until we get on the road. After we start traveling we will post every few days or possibly even daily. I will always post pics to go with the travels. Enjoy!
